Akron, Ohio has one public skatepark.

A 19,000-square-foot outdoor concrete park built in 2001 for a city of nearly 190,000 residents today.  That park has been more than concrete and rails: it’s been a home for countless kids, teens and young adults. It’s where friendships were forged, skills were learned,

and confidence grew — it's where

creativity soars... on wheels!

But now, that skatepark, which sits on municipal airport property, will be torn down as early as 2027 — in order to make space for a blimp/aviation business, since the city's lease

on the land will soon expire.

When that happens, Akron’s wheeled-sports enthusiasts — skateboarders, rollerbladers, scooter & BMX riders of all ages — will live in a community

without a place to skate.  No ramps.

No community hub. No shared laughs.

No safe space for kids to expend

their energy, grow, and connect.

It’s not just about losing space.

It’s about losing a home.

Losing community.

The Carver Society is raising support to build an all-inclusive indoor skatepark for Akron — a safe, welcoming space for riders of all ages, abilities, and wheeled-sports disciplines (skateboard, scooter, rollerblade, quad skates, BMX)

to ride and roll all year-round!

Here's where YOU come in...

Imagine youths rolling around smooth concrete bowls — even at night,

in cold rain or freezing snow.

Picture community nights where new riders get mentorship from older skaters; families bring kids;

lifelong friendships form.

Visualize a place that offers more than skating: a community hub, a healthy outlet when outdoor recreation is impossible — supporting physical

health, mental well-being,

coordination, confidence, creativity.

This indoor skatepark isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline: for community, for youth, for a city that deserves a safe, inclusive space to enjoy all year-round. You can help.
